FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Traffic/road congestion and parking challenges are a very serious topic of conversation within our community. These are not just Kirkwood issues – they’ve been deeply felt across Tahoe.
In 2024/25 we implemented the reservations-based parking program after taking a deep dive into our parking practices and traffic patterns, analyzing our own parking capacity and constraints, and learning from other resorts across our network. We will continue to build on the success of this program based on the direct benefits and results - lowering emissions, improving overall traffic flow and access to the resort, and enhancing the guest experience.
We have plenty of choices for guests related to parking, including most parking options remaining free.
We define peak periods as weekends, holidays, and Pass restricted days. Peak periods in the 2025/26 season for our Tahoe area resorts include:
Christmas: Dec 22–26 (excluding Christmas Day), Dec 29–Jan 2
MLK Day: Jan 19
Presidents Week: Feb 16 & Feb 21 (Monday & Friday)
